We’re over the moon to announce that our next live show will bring together the exceptional talents of Mr Cameron Ling and Mr Paul Dempsey to the stage of The Corner Hotel on Wednesday June 4th. To have the unofficial mayor of Geelong paired with Australia’s tallest front man is something of a dream come true for us, and we can’t wait.
Cameron Ling, as everyone knows, is a Geelong premiership captain and one of the greatest taggers to ever play the game. He’s also the finest redhead ever to play for the Cats – no mean feat given the quality of amber-haired athletes to have donned the hoops before him. Lingy fits our strict Presentation Night criteria of being an absolutely excellent person as well as footballer. Importantly, he also recently revealed to us that he can play the C, G and E minor chords on the guitar, so it’s fair to say that he’ll probably give our musical guest a run for his money if anyone challenges them to some kind of guitar solo competition on the night.
Paul Dempsey fronts one of Australia’s most successful and enduring bands, Something For Kate. He’s also an exceptional songwriter, singer and guitarist and importantly in this context, a massive Saints fan (actual height = 6 foot 7 inches). As will be revealed come show time, he is also a very funny and charming man, something that sometimes gets missed in the midst of the seriousness with which people regard his band. We can tell you from experience that his texting during big games of football is exceptional. His best work came recently right on the opening siren of this year’s ANZAC Day clash with a message reading ‘Can you please call me urgently?’ Maybe you had to be there, but trust us, it was funny.
Taking the helm as our host as always is the fantastic Mr Francis Leach. Anyone who has been to our shows before will know that not only is he the best man for the job he’s the ONLY man for the job. His knowledge and enthusiasm for football and music is infectious, and he brings out the best in our guests with the casual professionalism of a man at the top of his game.
