Our Story

My name is Andy. I started Presentation Night because I love music and I love football in equal measure and thought ‘I can’t be the Lone Ranger here, surely?’ At the time I was wearing a cowboy hat and a black eye mask so in some ways, perhaps I was, but I don’t want that to distract from the story I’m trying to tell here.

I am ‘in’ the music industry, which of course means that I am a failed bass player who moved into music management. Classic move. Anyway, I started noticing how much footballers and musicians had in common whenever they met on social occasions. It’s amazing how many musicians dreamt of being footballers, and how many footballers harboured fantasies about asking ‘How are y’all there feeing out there toniiiight (insert city here)??!!!!” from the lip of an arena stage. 

 

“Surely” I thought “we can bring some of these talented individuals on-stage together every now and again for a night of conversation about music and football. I’d better call all-time good guy Francis Leach, because if he can’t host it, it won’t work”.

 

Luckily, Francis could host it, and has hosted it since the first show, and does a brilliant job. He is in every sense the co-creator of the whole dog and pony show we’re running here. I’m not saying who is the dog nor who is the pony, or if what’s good for the goose is also good for the gander. Again, I don’t want to get too distracted here.
